Following an evaluation, a treatment plan is developed, including pain management, postural education/support, and manual manipulation of myofascia or rigid motion loss. A unique blend of hands-on manual therapy is employed in treatment. Manual therapy includes myofascial release, a form of deep, massage like stroking and pressure that releases compacted joints, promoting freedom of motion. Various joint manipulative techniques are also employed, depending upon the diagnosis and the stage of the condition. Joint manipulation may involve short, high velocity movements, or very gentle contract/relax muscle energy movements, depending on the condition.

Recently decompressed joints require protection from surrounding muscles to support and stabilize weakened structures. Therefore, spine stabilization/strengthening exercises are utilized and become a part of the long-term home exercise regimen. A home program is a critical component to the patient’s self care plan, as this prevents future episodes and promotes independence from the medical system.
