Services at Hopewell Physical Therapy
Hopewell Physical Therapy takes great pride in providing an advanced level of physical care and service. Each of our patients receives a formal evaluation by a physical therapist, followed by the implementation of a treatment plan. The goals of each patient are an important component of the plan. Isokinetic Testing of the Shoulder & Knee:
Computerized strength testing at multiple velocities, ideally comparing extremities and/or readiness to return to activity.
Aquatic Therapeutic Exercise, featuring the HydroTrack Underwater Treadmill:
Utilizing the buoyancy of water to reduce impact, the HydroTrack can help promote motion in the lower extremities and spine. Maintained at approximately 100° F, the HydroTrack is ideal for arthritis, or sprained ankles, knees and hips. The warmth, buoyancy and mild resistance of the water facilitates increased joint motion and muscle activation. The unloading and muscle activation characteristics of underwater walking promote a transition to land based/traditional exercises.
Other appropriate uses for the HydroTrack include facilitation of walking when pain is referred to the legs from the lower back, and following knee and hip total joint replacements.
Neurological Rehabilitation:
Hopewell Physical Therapy treats ambulatory neurological patients who have sustained strokes, traumatic brain injuries, concussions, or who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease.

Balance Rehabilitation:
Many geriatric patients find themselves having minor balance problems that can be caused by a vast array of medical conditions. Lower extremity weakness, deconditioning, and poor endurance are just a few of the issues that can affect a person’s balance as they mature. These issues can lead to unsteadiness, a fear of falling or periodic falls.
Treatment at Hopewell Physical Therapy involves a thorough evaluation to identify the reasons for loss of balance. Using a balance assessment tool, we create a personalized treatment plan to address the deficits, and as a follow up, later reassess the patient’s progress. Our goal is to improve a patient’s balance, safety, confidence, and quality of life.
Prevention/Maintenance Program:
Following discharge from formal physical therapy, patients are encouraged to continue an exercise program that is monitored by a physical therapist. The program is modified and updated as needed and involves guided exercise and stretching performed semi-independently at Hopewell Physical Therapy.
